Bio
Recruited from Horsham in the Wimmera, Colin Sleep was a diminutive rover and wingman who played a cameo role for the Lions during the early 1960s. While his senior career was brief, he etched his name into club folklore as a member of the "Miracle Match" side that stunned the eventual premiers Geelong in 1963, playing on the wing in the famous upset. Sleep struggled to cement a regular spot in the starting 18, though he flashed his potential with a four-goal haul against North Melbourne at Brunswick Street in his final season. Following his VFL delisting, he crossed to Northcote in the VFA, where he became a genuine star of the competition and was retrospectively awarded the 1967 Field Medal as the Second Division's joint Best and Fairest.
