Bio
Arriving at Victoria Park from South Bendigo with a reputation as a prodigious talent, Colin Tully quickly established himself as a fan favourite known for his spectacular long kicking. While he lacked the height of a key position player, he possessed a powerful boot and elite ball-reading ability, allowing him to feature prominently as a centreman before shifting to a defensive role. His VFL career was defined by both his individual brilliance—highlighted by his ability to launch torpedo goals from outside fifty—and his involvement in two of Collingwood’s most famous Grand Final heartbreaks. He played in the narrow 1966 defeat to St Kilda, but his time at the club effectively ended after the 1970 Grand Final, where he was the unfortunate defender tasked with minding Ted Hopkins during Carlton’s historic second-half comeback. Feeling the weight of that loss, Tully left the VFL to carve out a successful second chapter with Claremont in the WAFL.
