Stats
Bio
Recruited from Northcote as a brilliant junior prospect, Con McCormack enjoyed a fleeting but spectacular career at Victoria Park that yielded two Premierships in just two seasons. Initially making his name as a dashing half-back flanker who loved to run and carry, McCormack proved his versatility on the biggest stage of all during the 1902 Grand Final. When star teammate Fred Leach was moved to tag Essendon champion Albert Thurgood, McCormack was thrown into the centre and played a match-winning hand in the Magpies' victory. He cemented that midfield spot in 1903, using his strength and superior mobility to drive the club to back-to-back flags. Despite losing only three games in his entire VFL career, he walked away from the league at his peak to chase opportunities in the Western Australian goldfields, leaving behind a legacy of perfect efficiency.
