Bio
Recruited from the Eastern Ranges via Hawthorn's Next Generation Academy, Connor Downie arrived at Waverley Park as a damaging outside runner known for his penetrating left-foot kicking and ability to break lines. He holds a unique place in league history as the first player to be credited with an official debut as an unused medical substitute, logging a statistic for Round 1, 2021, despite not spending a second on the ground. Downie eventually made his active playing debut late in that season against the Western Bulldogs, showcasing his run-and-carry on the wing, but he struggled to cement a spot in the senior side throughout 2022. Delisted after just two seasons, he continued his football journey in the VFL, comprising stints with North Melbourne and Port Melbourne.
