Bio
Recruited from Albury in New South Wales, Conrad Tenbrink was a goal-kicking follower who spent a single eventful season with Essendon. The son of a prominent border-town publican and mayor, he arrived in Melbourne with a strong reputation from the Ovens and Murray district and quickly cemented his spot in the senior side. Tenbrink played 12 games and booted 10 goals in 1898, a campaign that culminated in the first recognised VFL Grand Final against Fitzroy. Stationed forward on a treacherous, muddy deck at the Junction Oval, he was part of the team that fell 15 points short of a second consecutive premiership. He departed the league immediately after the season, returning home to continue his football career with Albury.
