Recruited from the powerful Southport Sharks, Corey Bell was a diminutive rover who became a local favourite during the Brisbane Bears' tenure at Carrara. Standing at just 170cm, Bell overcame his lack of height with tenacious pressure and a ferocious appetite for the contest, earning a reputation as a courageous on-baller with a significant work rate. He made an immediate impression as an 18-year-old, gathering 16 disposals on debut against Richmond and capping off his breakthrough season by winning the club's Best First Year Player award. Despite this promising start and a key role in the Bears' historic 1991 Reserves premiership victory, he was unable to consolidate a long-term spot in the senior side, departing the AFL list without adding to his game tally after that debut season. Bell subsequently carved out a distinguished state-league career with Central District in the SANFL and Redland in the QAFL before returning to the elite level as a foundation administrator for the Gold Coast Suns.
