Bio
A testament to persistence, Corey Wagner's career has spanned three separate stints at AFL level across three different states. Originally a product of the Brisbane Lions Academy, he was drafted by North Melbourne in 2015 but struggled to cement a regular spot at Arden Street. After being delisted, strong form in the VFL saw him earn a lifeline with Melbourne via the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection, where he briefly played alongside his brother Josh. Wagner was cut again following the 2020 season but refused to give up on his AFL dream, dominating for Port Melbourne in the VFL before Fremantle selected him as a mature-age recruit in the 2022 National Draft. While initially deployed as a midfielder or pressure forward in his earlier years, he reinvented himself at the Dockers as a dashing half-back, using his speed and aggressive kicking to break lines in defence.
