Bio
Selected with pick 13 in the 1993 National Draft, Craig Callaghan was a foundation player for Fremantle, recruited well in advance of the club's entry into the AFL to ensure he was physically prepared for their 1995 inaugural season. A lightly built but pacy wingman and half-forward, Callaghan utilised his speed and endurance to break lines and link play through the midfield, becoming a consistent contributor during the Dockers' formative years. He proved to be a dangerous option near goal as well, regularly drifting forward to finish off running plays or snap truly on the run.
After six seasons and 87 games in the west, Callaghan returned to Victoria, traded to St Kilda at the end of 2000. His time at Moorabbin began positively, playing 21 games in his first season with the Saints, but his durability waned in subsequent years. Persistent soft-tissue injuries significantly restricted his output and availability, eventually forcing him into retirement at the conclusion of the 2004 season with 123 career games to his name.
