Bio
Recruited from Queensland side Western Districts, Craig Potter was a highly promising junior whose transition to the VFL was severely hampered by chronic injuries. After debuting for the Swans as an 18-year-old in 1984, he was forced to the sidelines for two full seasons, eventually returning to carve out a role as a hardworking midfielder and utility who provided support for stars like Gerard Healy and Greg Williams. His time in the Harbour City came to an end in 1991 when he was traded back to his home state to join the Brisbane Bears, a move famously orchestrated to facilitate Warwick Capper's return to Sydney. Potter played out two final seasons at Carrara before heading to the SANFL, where he proved his durability and class by winning a Best and Fairest with Central District.
