Bio
Recruited from West Adelaide with pick 18 in the 1996 National Draft, Craig Smoker arrived at Melbourne as a promising left-footed half-forward capable of rotating through the midfield. He broke into the senior side in 1998, showing glimpses of his class and goal sense during the Demons' surge to a Preliminary Final, though he often found himself on the fringes of selection. Unable to consolidate his position the following year as the team's form declined, he struggled to translate his high draft status into a consistent AFL career. Smoker was delisted at the conclusion of the 1999 season, leaving the top level to return to South Australia for a sustained tenure in the SANFL.
