Bio
Recruited from VFA club Prahran, Craig Williams was a versatile tall who tasted brief VFL action with St Kilda before carving out a decorated career in South Australia. While he managed just eight senior games for the Saints in 1977 and subsequently spent two seasons in the Fitzroy reserves, his move to West Adelaide in 1980 transformed his footballing trajectory. Williams evolved into a formidable utility capable of playing key defensive posts or pinch-hitting in the ruck, becoming a club stalwart with 160 games for the Bloods. His 1983 campaign remains his defining legacy, where he earned All-Australian honours, won the Fos Williams Medal as South Australia's best player in State of Origin, and played a courageous role in West Adelaide's premiership triumph after returning to the field with a severe finger dislocation.
