Bio
Recruited from Norwood in the SANFL, Cristian O'Brien was selected by Melbourne with pick 66 in the 1991 National Draft. He managed two senior appearances for the Demons during the 1992 season, debuting against Fitzroy in Round 14, but was unable to secure a regular spot in the lineup and was subsequently delisted. O'Brien was handed an AFL lifeline by Geelong, who selected him with pick 37 in the 1994 Pre-Season Draft, though he faced stiff competition for a spot in a strong Cats midfield that reached consecutive Grand Finals. He spent two seasons at Kardinia Park without adding to his career game tally, eventually departing the elite level to return to South Australian football.
