Stats
Bio
A Hawthorn local who cut his teeth with the club in the VFA, Nott earned an early opportunity at VFL level with Richmond in 1921 but struggled to break into a strong Tigers lineup, primarily operating as a back pocket. Unable to cement a spot at Punt Road, he returned to the Mayblooms and secured a permanent place in history as a member of Hawthorn’s inaugural VFL side in Round 1, 1925. While his VFL career was relatively brief, Nott was a versatile utility who could swing between defence and the forward line, providing experienced cover for the new franchise during its brutal initiation to the league. He eventually departed to captain-coach Oakleigh, becoming a key figure in their early VFA success, before transitioning into a long-serving role as a football writer for the Sporting Globe.
