Recruited from Mayne in the QAFL, Dale Woodhall was a prolific spearhead who arrived at Victoria Park with a reputation for dominating state league scoreboards. Despite being undersized for a key position player at 183cm, he possessed strong hands and a sharp eye for the goals, making an immediate impact in the VFL. His career is best remembered for a spectacular cameo early in the 1984 season where he booted a bag of seven goals against the Swans in just his third game, briefly looking like the solution to Collingwood's forward line woes. However, his form fluctuated—he was benched the very next week for a lack of impact—and he eventually lost his spot in the senior side ahead of the finals. After just one season and 32 goals, Woodhall departed Victoria to join West Adelaide in the SANFL, following the path of outgoing Magpies coach John Cahill.
