Bio
Recruited to the Western Oval as a teenager, Dallas Patterson was a forward who broke into the Footscray senior side in 1965. Standing 183cm, he was a taller flanker or key position option who possessed a natural eye for goal, yet he found it difficult to cement a permanent spot in the lineup, playing just 13 games across four seasons at the top level. Patterson eventually departed the VFL for the VFA, where he flourished at Williamstown; he enjoyed a spectacular debut season for the Seagulls in 1970, booting 72 goals and helping the club reach the Grand Final. He is remembered as a prolific lower-level scorer who, despite limited opportunities in the VFL, proved his class as a dangerous focal point in the VFA.
