Bio
Recruited from the Gippsland Power with pick 50 in the 1998 National Draft, Damien Adkins was a pacey midfielder and forward who showed early potential at Collingwood before succumbing to the depth of a developing contender. After a strong debut year in 2000 that yielded a Rising Star nomination, he struggled for senior selection over the following two seasons and was traded to West Coast in exchange for Andrew Williams seeking a fresh start. Adkins played his best football for the Eagles in 2004, using his speed to break lines, but ultimately became a tale of finals heartbreak; he was an emergency for the 2005 Grand Final loss and missed the entire 2006 premiership campaign after breaking his leg in the WAFL, leading to his delisting at just 25 years of age.
