Bio
Originally selected by Port Adelaide in the 2016 Rookie Draft as a forward, Dan Houston carved out a formidable career by transforming into one of the competition's elite half-backs. Renowned for his piercing right foot and composure, he evolved from a reliable depth player into a dual All-Australian, becoming the architect of the Power's transition game with his ability to intercept and launch attacks. His rise culminated in consecutive All-Australian selections in 2023 and 2024, confirming his status as one of the most damaging distributors by foot in the league.
After nine seasons in South Australia, Houston requested a trade home to Victoria, landing at Collingwood ahead of the 2025 season in a high-stakes three-club deal involving Gold Coast and Richmond. The move brought significant expectation, with Houston recruited to inject elite ball use and veteran experience into the Magpies' defensive rotation. Now established in black and white, he serves as a pivotal figure in defence, balancing heavy rebounding duties with the capacity to push into the midfield when required.
