Bio
Arriving at Victoria Park as part of a notable footballing family that saw brothers George and Arch also don the black and white, Dan Knott progressed through the reserves to debut for Collingwood in 1940. A wingman who could also push forward, he played sporadically during the tumultuous World War II era, managing just 16 games over four seasons as he struggled to command a regular spot in the senior side. After departing Collingwood and spending time in the VFA with Preston, Knott was granted a brief VFL reprieve by Richmond in 1947. He added six games to his career tally at Punt Road, largely filling in on the flank, before concluding his time at the elite level as a journeyman whose momentum was stifled by the interruptions of wartime football.
