Bio
Recruited to Hawthorn as a teenager in 1932, Dan Moloney stepped into a side that was struggling to find its feet in the VFL competition. A defensively minded player who did not trouble the scorers during his 23-game career, Moloney was often tasked with stemming the tide in a backline under constant siege. He played his football during a bleak period for the Mayblooms, who collected the wooden spoon in his debut season and won just a handful of games during his three-year tenure. After departing the league following the 1934 season, Moloney later served his country in the Royal Australian Air Force during the Second World War.
