Bio
A promising junior ruckman originally taken by the Sydney Swans with pick 49 in the 2006 National Draft, Daniel Currie endured a uniquely frustrating AFL journey defined by perseverance against injury and tough competition. Despite spending five seasons on the Swans' list, he was unable to break into a formidable ruck division led by Darren Jolly and Shane Mumford, eventually being delisted without making a senior appearance. After revitalising his prospects with a dominant stint in the SANFL, Currie was thrown a lifeline by North Melbourne in late 2012, yet found himself stuck behind the immense durability of All-Australian Todd Goldstein at Arden Street. He eventually sought greater opportunity via a trade to the Gold Coast Suns in 2016, but recurring injury setbacks restricted him to just six games for the club before his career concluded at the end of 2017.
