Bio
Recruited from the Port Adelaide Magpies with pick 23 in the 1999 National Draft, Daniel Foster was a key defensive prospect hailing from Wudinna on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula. A physically imposing backman at 192cm and 97kg, he was brought in to add size and strength to a developing Geelong spine under Mark Thompson. Foster played a contested brand of football, relying on his heavy frame to quell opposition power forwards, but he struggled to cement a permanent spot in a defensive unit that was beginning to feature future greats Matthew Scarlett and Tom Harley. He managed 17 senior games across his first three seasons but spent his final two years on the list playing in the VFL before being delisted at the end of 2004. Foster later returned to country football in South Australia and is the uncle of recent Geelong draftee Phoenix Foster.
