Bio
Originally hailing from Mandurah, Daniel Haines arrived at Fremantle via the 2001 Rookie Draft as a product of the club's local alignment with Peel Thunder. A tenacious midfielder capable of winning his own ball, he earned elevation to the senior list and showed early promise across 16 appearances during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. Despite being delisted at the end of 2004 without playing a senior game that year, the Dockers offered Haines a significant lifeline by re-selecting him with pick 69 in the National Draft, a move that highlighted the coaching staff's belief in his character. However, his second stint at AFL level was cruelled by persistent injuries—specifically to his knee and Achilles—which prevented him from adding to his game tally before his final departure in 2006. While his AFL career was cut short, he subsequently returned to the WAFL to become a captain and dual best-and-fairest winner for Peel Thunder.
