Bio
Recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers with pick 53 in the 2003 National Draft, Daniel Jackson endured a turbulent start to his career at Punt Road. For several seasons, he struggled to cement a regular spot in the senior side, often battling suspension issues and inconsistent form that left him on the fringes of selection. However, his trajectory shifted significantly under coach Damien Hardwick, who utilised Jackson's elite endurance and physical strength to mould him into a disciplined run-with player capable of nullifying the competition's best midfielders.
Jackson's perseverance culminated in a standout 2013 campaign, where he won the Jack Dyer Medal as Richmond's best and fairest in a season that saw the club break a 12-year finals drought. Renowned for his courage and defensive accountability rather than silky skills, he became a key member of the Tigers' leadership group and was highly regarded for his off-field contributions, receiving the inaugural Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award. He retired in 2014 after 156 games, remembered as a loyal servant who maximised his natural ability through sheer work rate and determination.
