Recruited from the Northern Knights with pick 36 in the 1996 National Draft, Daniel Lowther was a midfielder capable of pushing forward who faced challenges cementing a permanent spot in the Geelong lineup. Over five seasons at Kardinia Park, he served primarily as a depth player during the club's transition under Gary Ayres and Mark Thompson, managing 34 senior appearances before being delisted at the conclusion of the 2001 season. While his playing career was brief, Lowther re-established himself at the Cats in a significant off-field capacity, working through the VFL coaching ranks before being appointed as Geelong's AFLW senior coach in 2021, where he has been credited with revitalising the women's program and guiding the team to finals action.
