Teams

Bursting onto the AFL scene in spectacular fashion, Daniel Metropolis etched his name into football folklore by booting four goals with his first four kicks on debut against St Kilda in 1992. Recruited from Subiaco, the versatile key position player possessed the athleticism to play at either centre half-forward or centre half-back, making him a valuable asset during West Coast's golden era. However, his career was frequently interrupted by soft-tissue injuries and hampered by the immense depth of the Eagles' squad; despite playing regular senior football, he missed selection for both the 1992 and 1994 premiership teams.

After nine seasons and 108 games with West Coast, Metropolis was delisted at the end of 2000 but found a lifeline with cross-town rival Fremantle, who selected him in the national draft to add experience to a developing list. He spent two seasons with the Dockers, primarily utilised in defence to guide the club's younger key position stocks, before retiring at the end of 2002. While often remembered for his blistering start to league football, Metropolis carved out a respectable decade-long career as a swingman who battled persistent injury setbacks to remain a competitive fixture in Western Australian football.
