Bio
Recruited from University Blues in the VAFA via the 2011 Rookie Draft, Daniel Nicholson was a lightning-fast utility who used his superior aerobic capacity and sprint speed to earn opportunities during a lean era for Melbourne. Initially catching the eye with his ability to break lines and chase down opponents, he was frequently tasked with run-with roles on opposition midfielders or deployed across half-back to provide rebound. While his raw athleticism was elite, inconsistency with his ball use limited his ability to secure a permanent spot in the best 22, and after managing 32 games over four seasons, he was delisted at the end of 2014 as the club overhauled its list under Paul Roos.
