Bio
Selected by West Coast with pick 13 in the 2016 National Draft, Daniel Venables was an explosive forward-midfielder who appeared destined for a long career after breaking into the senior side early in his tenure. He cemented his place in the Eagles' lineup during the 2018 season, becoming a premiership player in just his 15th game as the youngest member of the Grand Final team that defeated Collingwood. However, his career was tragically cut short following a severe traumatic brain injury sustained in a collision against Melbourne in Round 9, 2019. Despite sitting out the entire 2020 season and exploring every avenue for rehabilitation, persistent concussion symptoms ultimately forced Venables to retire in 2021 on the recommendation of an AFL medical panel, ending his time at the elite level at just 22 years of age.
