Family

Recruited from the potato fields of Bungaree, Danny Frawley became the heart and soul of St Kilda during a turbulent era for the club. Making his debut in 1984, he established himself as an old-school full-back who relied on desperate spoiling, physical strength, and unwavering courage rather than finesse. Frawley was routinely tasked with standing the greatest forwards of a golden era, famously battling the likes of Jason Dunstall and Gary Ablett Snr, while also marshalling the Saints' defence as captain for nine consecutive seasons.

His leadership was critical during the club's financial struggles in the late 1980s, eventually guiding the team to its first finals campaign in nearly two decades in 1991. Individually, his standing in the game was recognised with a club Best and Fairest and All-Australian selection in 1988, along with consistent selection for Victoria in State of Origin football. A fierce competitor who wore his heart on his sleeve, Frawley retired in 1995 as St Kilda's longest-serving captain, cementing his legacy as one of the club's most beloved figures.
