Bio
Originally selected by Collingwood with pick 21 in the 2005 National Draft, Danny Stanley struggled to break into a strong Magpies lineup, managing just five appearances over four seasons before being delisted. Handed a lifeline by the newly established Gold Coast Suns ahead of their inaugural season, he reinvented himself as a rugged, big-bodied midfielder and defensive forward who used his elite endurance and physical strength to protect his younger teammates. Stanley became a vital cog during the Suns' foundation years, regularly polling well in the club best and fairest, before injuries and list regeneration saw his career conclude in 2016 as a respected figure who had maximised his potential through sheer work ethic.
