Bio
Darcy Szerszyn is a highly touted key defender from Seaford who entered his top-age year with high expectations as an AFL Academy member. Appointed vice-captain of the Dandenong Stingrays, he missed the first half of the Talent League season following an off-season shoulder operation, having trained with Melbourne in January. He returned in June to string together solid performances, earning selection for Vic Country at the National Championships and making a promising VFL debut for North Melbourne. Szerszyn finished his campaign strongly by turning heads at the national draft combine, placing in the top 10 for the 20-metre sprint, agility test, and both vertical jumps.
At 187cm, Szerszyn boasts an enviable athletic profile and the versatility to cover a wide variety of forwards. Scouts praise his aerial ability, bravery, and intercepting nous, noting how he disrupts opposition attacks and creates drive when bursting off half-back. While observers suggest he is still developing his composure and polish, his raw upside and defensive aggression stand out. Despite his injury-interrupted season, he remains firmly on the radar of clubs and is widely rated as a top-50 prospect in the draft pool.
