Bio
A local Queensland talent plucked from Southport, Darren Carlson was a rare homegrown highlight in the Brisbane Bears' inaugural list. Operating as a classy wingman, he made an immediate impression in the club's debut 1987 season, notably polling three Brownlow votes in a victory over North Melbourne at Carrara. Despite his promising start and selection for Queensland in the 1988 Bicentennial Carnival, persistent leg injuries severely hampered his development, preventing him from cementing a regular spot in the senior side during the club's turbulent early years. After leaving the Bears, he revitalized his career in the SANFL with West Adelaide, where he earned Team of the Year honours, and has since remained active in Queensland football as a development coach.
