Bio
Recruited from the Calder Cannons with pick 48 in the 1995 National Draft, Darren Milburn developed into one of Geelong's most reliable and understated performers over a 15-season career. Known affectionately as "Dasher," he was a versatile defender capable of matching up on opponents of varying sizes, combining astute reading of the play with elite disposal efficiency rebounding from the back half. While he often flew under the radar compared to higher-profile teammates, his courage and football intelligence made him a vital cog in one of the greatest defensive units of the modern era alongside Matthew Scarlett and Corey Enright.
Milburn's career peak coincided with the Cats' golden era, playing an integral role in the 2007 and 2009 premiership victories. His consistency was rewarded individually with All-Australian selection in 2007, a season where he was instrumental in the club breaking its 44-year flag drought. Despite his exceptional durability, Milburn finished his career on 292 games, retiring at the end of the 2011 season after finding himself on the fringe of the senior side during the club's successful finals campaign that year. He remains one of the most capped players in Geelong history, celebrated for his unsociable football and clinical execution in defence.
