Bio
Originally recruited from the Dandenong Stingrays via the rookie list, Darren Minchington was a high-pressure small forward known for his tackling intensity and ability to pinch-hit in the midfield. Despite showing flashes of potential at St Kilda, most notably during a career-best 2016 campaign where he played 13 games, his eight-year tenure at the club was heavily disrupted by recurring hip and soft-tissue injuries that prevented him from cementing a regular spot in the senior side. Following his delisting by the Saints at the end of 2018, Minchington was thrown a lifeline by Hawthorn as a delisted free agent to bolster their forward depth. However, his misfortune with injury persisted at Waverley Park, restricting him to just four games over two seasons before his AFL career concluded at the end of 2020.
