Bio
Recruited from Kyabram in the Goulburn Valley, Daryl Bourke was an in-and-under centreman who managed 18 senior games for Melbourne during the mid-1980s. After struggling to cement a permanent spot in the Demons' lineup, he moved north in 1987 to trial for the inaugural Brisbane Bears squad but ultimately missed the final list. This setback launched a celebrated career in the QAFL, where Bourke became a legend at the Morningside Football Club. Despite undergoing a knee reconstruction early in his tenure, he captained the Panthers to premiership success and claimed the prestigious Grogan Medal twice as the league's best and fairest player. He retired as a three-time premiership player and was later inducted into the Queensland Football Hall of Fame, recognised as one of the state's premier midfielders of the era.
