Recruited from Essex Heights in Melbourne's south-east, Daryl Freame was a creative, nuggetty rover whose VFL career was defined by a unique slice of club history. Despite battling persistent hamstring injuries that limited him to just 17 senior games over five seasons, Freame holds the rare distinction of winning premierships in all four grades at Richmond: the Fourths, Under-19s, Reserves, and the Seniors. His crowning moment arrived in 1980 when, after spending much of the year in the seconds, he was named on the interchange bench for the Grand Final against Collingwood. He entered the fray in the third quarter to replace an injured Paul Sarah, securing a premiership medallion in what was the Tigers' most dominant era. Following his time at Punt Road, he moved to Western Australia to play for Perth in the WAFL.
