Bio
Arriving at South Melbourne from junior club Leopold, Dave Barry wasted little time establishing himself in the club's defensive unit. He enjoyed a dream debut season in 1909, holding down a back pocket position and playing a vital role in the side that defeated Carlton to claim the premiership. A reliable defender capable of quelling opposition attacks, Barry remained a consistent figure throughout the following year before his VFL career concluded after just two seasons. Although his time at the elite level was fleeting, limited to 24 appearances, his status as a premiership player ensures his enduring connection to the club's history.
