Bio
Recruited from local side East Geelong, Dave Beard was a serviceable utility who played a stop-start career with the Pivotonians during the early 1900s. Standing at 178cm, he possessed the size to play as a follower or flanking forward, managing to hit the scoreboard occasionally with 12 career goals. After debuting in 1906, Beard fell out of the senior side for the entire 1907 season, only to fight his way back into the lineup in 1908 where he became a more regular fixture. While never a headline star, he was a reliable clubman who provided vital depth to the Geelong squad over six seasons, eventually concluding his VFL tenure at the end of 1911.
