Bio
Recruited from the Old Melburnians in the VAFA, Dave Bedford was a versatile prospect who was initially tested as a rover during pre-season trials before settling into a defensive role at senior level. He made his VFL debut in Round 2, 1950 against Richmond, entering the game as a replacement player during a tense one-point victory. Bedford managed four senior appearances that season, serving as a depth player for a strong Demons outfit that ultimately reached the Preliminary Final. Unable to cement a permanent spot in the backline, he departed the club at the end of the year and transferred to Camberwell in the VFA, where he played for a further two seasons.
