Bio
Hailing from Dartmoor in western Victoria, Dave Greenham entered the VFL system via a scholarship to Wesley College and a medical residency at Queen's College. A gifted all-round athlete who also excelled in rowing, Greenham was a tireless runner who used his elite endurance to wear down opponents, a trait that saw him selected to represent Victoria at the prestigious 1911 Adelaide Carnival. Despite playing in a University side that often struggled against hardened suburban clubs, his class was undeniable, allowing him to hold his own against the league's best players during the Students' final years in the competition. His football journey was ultimately cut short by his professional calling; he retired after the 1912 season to practise medicine in Corryong, where he became a local legend—famously performing the autopsy on the original "Man from Snowy River"—and later served as a captain in the Australian Army Medical Corps during World War I.
