Bio
Recruited from the Western Australian Goldfields, Dave Griffiths was a mature-age powerhouse whose arrival in the VFL was significantly delayed by his service with the AIF in France during World War I. A strongly built centre-half forward and ruckman, Griffiths had captained Kalgoorlie City before finally making his debut for Richmond at age 27. Standing 185cm—a formidable height for the 1920s—he was renowned for his contested marking strength and ability to launch long punt kicks. After showing promise in ten games with the Tigers in 1923, he crossed to St Kilda for a brief stint the following season, eventually concluding his football journey in the VFA with Brighton.
