Bio
Recruited from the amateur ranks at Old Scotch, Dave Hardie was a private school standout who had previously vice-captained Scotch College to a premiership. Although he initially trained with Hawthorn, the midfielder eventually signed with Melbourne and broke into the senior side late in the 1947 season. Hardie provided depth to the Demons' engine room during their successful 1948 campaign, often rotating through the centre and forward flanks. However, his career came to an abrupt halt in Round 15, 1948, when he suffered a broken collarbone following a heavy bump against Richmond. The injury robbed him of any chance to participate in Melbourne's premiership victory later that year, and he was delisted at season's end without adding to his seven senior appearances.
