Stats
Bio
Recruited from VFA club Coburg, Dave Nelson arrived at North Melbourne in 1929 as a diminutive utility standing just 173cm. He managed to break into the senior side for seven games and kicked two goals during his sole season at Arden Street, but found it difficult to retain a permanent place in the lineup. Nelson requested a move to Melbourne the following year, yet his time with the Demons was frustrated by clearance difficulties involving Collingwood and untimely injuries that restricted him entirely to the Reserves. After failing to add to his senior tally at Melbourne and a subsequent non-playing stint at Hawthorn in 1932, his VFL career quietly came to a close, though he later went on to serve in the Australian Army during World War II.
