Bio
The son of former player Harold and nephew of club legend Alec Albiston, David entered the VFL with a strong family pedigree. Recruited from Melbourne High School Old Boys, he was a skilled rover and forward pocket who broke into the senior side as a teenager. His rapid rise saw him selected in the forward pocket for the 1963 Grand Final against Geelong at just 18 years of age, though the Hawks were ultimately defeated on the day. Albiston remained a consistent member of the senior lineup for the next three seasons, playing 61 games and kicking 30 goals before concluding his VFL career in 1966.
