Bio
Recruited locally from St Mary’s, David "Rocky" Armour burst onto the VFL scene in 1974 with a memorable debut against Collingwood at Victoria Park, booting four goals including majors with his first two kicks in league football. Despite this electric start, the versatile tall utility found regular senior opportunities limited at Kardinia Park, often alternating between senior duties and the reserves, where he was a member of the club's 1975 premiership side. A thigh injury in his second game also stalled his early momentum, and after 19 games across three seasons, Armour departed Victoria to carve out a successful career interstate. He spent a season with East Perth in the WAFL before making a significant impact at Norwood in the SANFL, where he played as a ruck-rover and key defender. His time in South Australia was highlighted by a premiership in 1978—Norwood's centenary year—before he eventually returned to Victoria to finish his career with Geelong West in the VFA.
