Bio
Recruited from Horsham in the Wimmera, David Burke was a tall forward and ruckman who experienced a dream start to his VFL career before injury cut his time at the top level short. He burst onto the scene in Round 12, 1980, booting five goals on debut against North Melbourne at Arden Street, instantly appearing to be a long-term prospect for the Bombers. However, Burke managed just two more senior appearances that season, adding only one more goal to his tally as a serious ankle injury derailed his progress. Unable to break back into the senior side, he languished in the reserves throughout 1981 before transferring to the Geelong Football League, where he played for St Mary's and later served as a playing assistant coach for Bell Park.
