Bio
Recruited by Adelaide with the eighth selection in the 1997 National Draft, David Gallagher entered the AFL as a highly touted prospect from the Sandringham Dragons. A running defender and midfielder known for his pace, he struggled to cement a regular spot in the Crows' senior side, managing 26 games over three seasons while fluctuating between the AFL and SANFL. Seeking a fresh start, Gallagher was traded to Carlton ahead of the 2002 season in exchange for Ben Nelson. However, the move failed to reignite his career, and after adding just seven games to his tally in a struggling Blues outfit, he was delisted at the end of the year, leaving the competition with a career that did not reach the heights suggested by his early draft status.
