Bio
Recruited from the Geelong Falcons with pick 16 in the 1999 National Draft, David Haynes began his career at West Coast, where he initially developed his craft in the WAFL with East Perth. After biding his time, he broke out in 2003 as a dangerous medium forward, playing 21 games and booting 27 goals to help the Eagles reach the finals. Following that impressive campaign, he requested a trade home to Victoria and joined Geelong in exchange for the selection eventually used on premiership Eagle Sam Butler. Haynes slotted straight into the Cats' forward line in 2004, playing 16 games including a preliminary final, but he struggled to maintain his spot the following year and was delisted at the end of 2005.
