Stats
Bio
Recruited from St Kevin’s Old Boys in the amateur leagues, David Kelly was a towering ruckman who stood 199cm during an era when such height was a significant asset. He broke into the Melbourne senior side in the middle of the 1975 season, debuting against Footscray, but struggled to cement a regular spot in the starting lineup. Kelly managed just three senior games across two years, spending the entirety of the 1977 season in the reserves as a depth player. Following his departure from the Demons, he moved to the VFA with Yarraville and later Sandringham, where he extended his career into the early 1980s despite battling a serious knee injury.
