Teams

Already a decorated SANFL legend with Glenelg before the Adelaide Crows entered the national competition, David Marshall was recruited as a mature-age foundation player to guide the fledgling franchise in its inaugural 1991 season. A smooth-moving wingman renowned for his balance and silky disposal, he permanently etched his name into club folklore by kicking the first goal in Crows history during their emphatic debut victory over Hawthorn, a match in which he famously gathered 29 disposals to be judged best afield. Although his AFL tenure was limited to just two seasons as he entered the competition at 30 years of age, Marshall’s transition proved he could mix it with the nation's best, serving as a vital touchstone of class and experience during Adelaide's formative years.
