Bio
Recruited from the Murray Bushrangers with pick 19 in the 2003 National Draft, David Mundy arrived in Western Australia as a promising talent from Seymour, Victoria. Initially utilised across half-back where his composure and precise distribution were immediate assets, he eventually transitioned into a full-time midfield role. Despite the "go-home factor" often associated with Victorian draftees, Mundy remained a staunch one-club player for the Dockers, resisting external offers to build a life and legacy in Perth.
On the field, Mundy was defined by his smooth movement and ability to navigate heavy traffic, often appearing to have more time than his opponents. A clearance specialist who could win the hard ball and deliver it with elite efficiency, he served as a key pillar in the Fremantle engine room for nearly two decades. His capacity to stand up in big moments became folklore, perhaps best exemplified by his match-winning set shot after the siren against Richmond in 2017. Remarkably, his output did not diminish with age; he produced some of his finest football well into his mid-30s, acting as an on-field general for a developing list.
